Among those who have spoken in support of independence are Sean Connery, Brian Cox, and Alan Cumming.

Those who’ve made comments in favor of Scotland remaining part of the United Kingdom include J.K. Rowling, Mike Myers, David Bowie, Susan Boyle, Emma Thompson, and John Barrowman.

Others, including Annie Lennox, Andy Murray, and Billy Connolly haven’t taken a strong public stance on the issue.

Elijah Wood, who played Frodo Baggins in "Lord of the Rings," told Scots to "go for it," according to the Edinburgh Evening News.

It’s uncertain how much of an influence the celebrities will have on the vote, and many of them are nonresidents and not eligible to vote.

“I completely respect Bowie’s right to express views on independence, just as I’d respect Iggy Pop’s opinions on the CERN particle accelerator,” Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle said, according to The New York Times.
