Scott Storch, the record producer famous for writing Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me A River" and Christina Aguilera's "Fighter," filed for bankruptcy this month — appearing to have blown through his $70 million fortune.
The New York Daily News reported that the Chapter 7 filing was made in Miami, and that the documents show he claimed his debts totaled $4.4 million, while his only assets had dwindled to $100 in cash, $500 in clothing, and a $3,000 watch.
Storch, who also wrote Chris Brown’s "Run It!" and Beyonce’s "Me, Myself and I," listed his companies, Tuff Jew Productions and Storch Music, at $0.
A native of Long Island, New York, Storch has struggled with a cocaine addition since at least 2009, the year he checked into an inpatient rehab program in Florida.
At his peak, Storch owned a $10 million mansion on Miami's Palm Island, a yacht, and a car collection that included a $800,000 Rolls-Royce Phantom convertible and 2007 Bugatti Veyron valued at $1.6 million,
reported the New York Post.
"I probably bought 10 cars when I was high," he once said in an
interview with Details magazine.
Storch blew through an estimated $30 million from 2006-2009, and filed Chapter 13 bankruptcy around the time he checked into rehab. He lost the mansion — once featured on MTV's "Cribs" — in the process.
In 2013, Storch blamed his downfall on "women and drugs," and in an interview a year later he explained, "I would always be going from L.A. to Miami to New York, to Russia, St-Tropez. Costs about $50,000 for a domestic flight, $250,000 for overseas. Yeah, that's an expensive habit."
