Atlanta Braves infielder Sean Rodriguez was not injured but his wife and two daughter were hospitalized Saturday when the family's SUV was struck by a stolen police cruiser. The driver of the stolen car was killed.
Rodriguez's wife was in fair condition after the Miami crash, and his daughters, ages 2 and 8, were in serious but stable condition, according to ESPN. The police car went up in flames as a result of the crash.
Rodriguez, 31, played with the Pittsburgh Pirates the last two seasons and signed with the Braves in November. He has played professional baseball for nine years, and 2016 was his best season so far with 18 home runs and 56 RBIs.
The Braves and Pirates both tweeted well-wishes to Rodriguez and his family.
