A shooting at a Tucson, Arizona, home Tuesday evening left five people dead in what authorities believe may have been a murder-suicide.
TPD chief Roberto Villaseñor told KOLD-TV that all of the victims suffered gunshot wounds but it was still too early in the investigation to determine what led to the confrontation. Bodies were reportedly found in different areas of the home on the 800 block of West Calle Medina.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the deceased but the station said on Twitter that it appears that family members of the victims had started to gather at the scene.
"The way they are going to approach this is very methodical," Villaseñor said of the investigation, according to KOLD-TV. "They'll go in and do a walkthrough of the residence just to get an overall picture of what they have and then they'll grid off the house and do it section by section to make sure they're recovering anything evidentiary of value. Obviously photographing and videoing the house to determine where everything is later on when they have to reconstruct."
Authorities told the Arizona Daily Star that Tucson police officers were called to the home shortly before 6 p.m. by a man who arrived at the residence to talk to an acquaintance and saw people hurt inside.
While officers initially called the incident a murder-suicide, Villaseñor told the Daily Star that it was too early in the investigation to say that with certainty. Officers declined to tell the newspaper what weapons were found in the house but did say that authorities have been called to the home in the past.
Detectives told KVOA-TV that one of the things they are working on is determining how every person in the home was connected. They told the television station that it did not appear that any children were among the dead.
Police did not give details about what calls they responded to at the residence in the past, according to the Daily Star.
