Stephen Fry, the British actor and comedian, revealed this week that he plans to marry his partner, who is 30 years his junior.
The 57-year-old actor, whose resume includes a role in "The Hobbit," confirmed the news of his engagement to Elliott Spencer via Twitter on Tuesday.
Fry later thanked his fans for their comments on Twitter.
Fry gave official notice of his wedding plans at the register office in
Dereham, Norfolk, BBC reported. The 27-year-old Spencer is listed as a writer on documents.
Fry and Spencer are believed to have begun their relationship about a year ago and reportedly got
serious over the summer, the Daily Mail reported.
Spencer's father, Robert, who is the same age as Fry, said he and his wife Melanie, 52, are happy about the upcoming wedding.
Fry, who suffers from bipolar disorder, attempted suicide in 2012 after the breakup of a longtime relationship, according to the Daily Mail.
Fans shared congratulations on Twitter.
