Target is closing 13 stores across the nation because of their poor financial performance, the company said Wednesday.

According to CNN Money, all of the stores will be closed by Jan. 31, 2016, at the latest.

"Typically, a store is closed as a result of seeing several years of decreasing profitability," a Target spokesperson said, adding that "the decision to close a Target store is not made lightly."

Target has roughly 1,800 U.S. stores in total, and eligible employees at the affected stores will be given the opportunity to transfer to other locations.

The full list of affected stores is below:

Austin North East (Austin, Texas)
Suncoast Pasco County (Odessa, Florida)
Casa Grande, Arizona
Victorville, California
East Flint (Flint, Michigan)
Columbus Southwest (Columbus, Ohio)
Northridge (Milwaukee, Wisconsin)
Superior, Wisconsin
Springfield, Ohio
New Ulm, Minnesota
Ottumwa, Iowa
Anderson, Indiana
Dixie Highway (Louisville, Kentucky)

According to The Huffington Post, Target closed all 133 of its stores in Canada in January 2015 after the brand failed to gain traction there.

"Layoffs in 2015 included 2,500 jobs, or about one-fifth of the workers in the company's corporate offices in Minneapolis and Brooklyn Park," ABC News reported.
