It's no surprise that politicians across the United States are seeking
endorsements from former President Bill Clinton. His star address at the 2012 Democratic National Convention launched him into another era of relevance with the Democratic Party, earning praise from even Paul Ryan.
Running for governor of Virginia, former National Democratic Chair Terry McAuliffe is hoping to use his longtime pal Clinton's star power to his advantage.
The New York Daily News reports that
McAuliffe will host an early March fundraiser with the former president, who will headline the event.
McAuliffe is no stranger to the Clintons. In 1996, he served as the national finance chairman and national co-chairman of the Clinton-Gore re-election committee. He also chaired Hilary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign.
Hedge fund billionaire Marcy Lasry will host the March 13 event with his wife at their Manhattan home. Doug and Lily Band will co-host the event. Doug Band has ties to Clinton from his days as a White House intern and Clinton aide.
"If the opportunity in two years is I could be the governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia but I can really help people, and create jobs, and do the things I’d get excited about, then of course I’d look at it,” McAuliffe told Newsmax TV.
McAuliffe confirmed to Newsmax in 2011 that he might seek a 2013 Virginia Governor's bid.
