Two former bodyguards for New England Patriot quarterback Tom Brady and supermodel Gisele Bundchen were convicted in Costa Rica for attempted murder after shooting at paparazzi during an event celebrating the couple's 2009 wedding.

Miguel Solis and Alexander Rivas also must pay $10,000 to the photographers along with their five-year prison sentences, according to the Washington Post. The ruling was handed down  Nov. 15, reported E! News.

The newspaper reported that a third man charged in the incident was acquitted. The Post reported that during the couple's celebration at a secluded beachfront in Costa Rica on April 4, 2009, Solis and Rivas fired on photographers after demanding their camera's memory cards and ordering them away from the event. No one was hurt in the incident.

During a 2009 interview with Sports Illustrated Peter King, Brady denied the incident.

"Absolute total b.s.," Brady told Sports Illustrated. "We found two guys on our property, and we told them to get out. Our security guys didn't even have guns. There were no shots fired."

The couple was married Feb. 26 in Santa Monica, Calif., and the April 4 event was meant to be a larger ceremony for family and friends.

The couple are parents to son Benjamin, 3, and daughter Vivian, 8 months. Brady has a son Jack, 6, with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan, 43.

Brady is a three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback with the Patriots, and named the male athlete of the year by the Associated Press in 2007, according to Us Weekly. The eight-time Pro Bowl selection has passed for 2,552 yards and 14 touchdowns while leading New England to a 7-3 record so far this season, according to Pro Football Reference.com.

Bundchen, a native of Brazil, is one of the world's top-paid models. She has appeared on the cover of numerous magazines, including Rolling Stone, Time, Forbes, Newsweek and most of the top fashion magazines like Vogue, W, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, i-D, and The Face, according to IMDb.com.
