Triumph the Insult Comic Dog's RNC protest against the Westboro Baptist Church in Cleveland's Public Square created lots of laughs as part of a planned disruption.

Robert Smigel, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog's creator, led a crowd in mocking the Westboro members with counter protest signs that resembled the same signs the church's protesters use, noted Raw Story.

The counter protesters signs of "God hates bangs," "Kevins repent" (as in Kevin Spacey), and Taylor Swift photo with devil's horns at times appear to crowd out Westboro's typical signs condemning the LGBT community, noted Raw Story.

A few other humorous counter-protest signs read: "God hates mermen," "Bangs are the devil's children," "Morning people are beasts" and "God hates people born from c-sections," noted Salon.

Smigel told Salon, though, that the counter protest was all part of a comedy project being done for Hulu. Two other men participating in the protest were part of the Hulu project as actors, noted Salon.

"I was told I'm going to get paid to protest the Westboro Baptist Church at the RNC? I was like, absolutely," one actress said, who was part of the counter protest, wrote Salon.

The show's producer Jake Plunkett told Salon they will be at the Democratic National Convention next week as well. Numerous Twitter posts showed Smigel and Triumph trolling media row and other spots at the Republican National Convention this week.
