Val Kilmer took to social media to say he definitely wants in on the “Top Gun” sequel Tom Cruise announced was a “go” on Wednesday.

Kilmer tweeted a photo of himself in a shirt from the movie and said he's "still got the moves."

“Top Gun” had its 30-year anniversary last year, and it has become a classic of its generation for both the story and the soundtrack.

Cruise announced to Sunrise that he would probably start filming “Top Gun 2” in the next year after David Ellison and Jerry Bruckheimer spent the last two years in development of the sequel.

Kilmer’s interest in the sequel isn’t new. In a Reddit Ask Me Anything session last month, he answered a question about whether he would appear in the movie. “Hell yes,” he said. “What a hoot it will be.”

But Kilmer also revealed in the session that he had battled throat cancer. He said he had been “healed” of the cancer, but his throat was still swollen and his voice didn’t sound “normal” again yet.

Kilmer’s cancer battle also left him looking gaunt and frail, so it remains to be seen whether he will, in fact, be tapped to reprise his role as the Iceman for the next installment of the story.

Fans took to Twitter to say that the sequel just wouldn’t be right without Kilmer’s character and him in the role.
