"Fear the Walking Dead" voice actor Randy Schell was killed skydiving in Texas over the weekend in a midair collision with a fellow skydiver.
His death occurred Saturday at Skydive Spaceland in Rosharon, 32 miles south of Houston, according to the Houston Chronicle, when Schell and Denis Wolf collided with each other after deploying their parachutes during a planned group jump.
Authorities said they believe Schell was unconscious after the collision and was unable to deploy his backup parachute. Wolf suffered a broken rib in the collision and a broken leg while landing. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Skydive said Schell and Wolf were both licensed and experienced skydivers, reported Deadline.com.
The Hollywood Reporter said Schell worked as a voice-over actor for more than 25 years, including on shows like "Fear the Walking Dead," and on numerous commercials for well-known companies like the insurance giant Geico.
Deadline.com said other shows to his credit included "Dancing With the Stars" and "Life in Pieces." He also voiced commercials for McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Nike and Levi's, among others.
Schell was represented by the Pastorini-Bosby Talent Agency, noted the Chronicle.
"We are heartbroken, Randy has been a friend client of ours for over 25 years," the company said, per the Chronicle. "He was highly regarded as a voice actor and brilliant engineer and producer not only locally but nationally. He had a golden voice and he knew how to use it. Everyone loved working with Randy. He had a gentle, thoughtful spirit that he brought into every project he worked on."
