The website
Welcomehomeblog.com celebrates the sacrifices the U.S. military makes, showcasing uplifting and usually tear-filled embraces between personnel and their families the first moments they return home from a war zone. It has page after page of heart warming scenes.
The page, which has been in operation since June, 2010 allows veterans and their families to share their surprise welcome home videos to "give back to the military community."
"Regardless of political stance, no one can deny the joy felt upon seeing our troops coming home safely," the website's front page says. "Welcome Home Blog celebrates these amazing military homecoming reunions."
The blog raises money through advertisements, which it donates to a different military-related charity every month. The blog has donated to The Fisher House Foundation, Homes For Our Troops, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Service Trust, among others.
The blog, which has been featured on Fox News and CNN, among other news outlets, has nearly 41,000 "Likes" on its Facebook page and is self-described as "The No. 1 site for videos of surprise military homecomings."
