Adam Kwasman, an Arizona state legislator running for Congress, mistook a bus full of YMCA campers for migrant children he expected would be arriving at a shelter in Oracle, Arizona.
Kwasman, who was attending a protest of U.S. immigration policies, tweeted a photo of the bus with the comment: “Bus coming in. This is not compassion. This is the abrogation of the rule of law.”

Kwasman told the Arizona Republic, “I was able to actually see some of the children in the buses, and the fear on their faces.”
Reporter Brahm Resnik told Kwasman that the children were campers on their way to the YMCA’s Triangle Y Ranch Camp.
“They were sad, too,” Kwasman responded, according to the report, before apologizing.
The tweet was deleted, but screen shots of it were making their way around the Internet.
Between 40 and 60 migrant children caught crossing in the United States illegally were expected to be bused to the Sycamore Canyon Academy, the newspaper reported. But the buses never came.
About 57,000 unaccompanied children have been caught trying to enter the country illegally in a recent influx from Central America.
Kwasman’s blunder is making the rounds on Twitter.
