When President Obama unilaterally issued his public school bathroom policy, he used as a threat the potential loss of federal funding under Title IX if schools didn't comply.
How ironic it is then,
writes The American Spectator, that the law designed to protect against sex discrimination in schools and its activites is now going to cause it, thanks to Obama's rules of political gender identity.
"The politically correct, confusing nonsense will end up depriving girls of opportunities. They'll lose to boys who compete as girls," writes The Spectator. "With the Obama administration and the feather-brained school administrators across the country, Title IX is going to cause sex discrimination because gender identity is being willfully confused with biological sex. Women and girls with female DNA and biology will be pushed out by biological boys."
Title IX is clear in is language — the genetic way a person is made — to guard against discrimination. But now, thanks to the Obama administration, how a boy views himself, for example, has turned Title IX into a demeaning joke.
"The girl will no longer be elite. And, in fact, the boy is not elite, either. … As a girl, though, he'll excel. He'll be given accolades — both for his social courage and his physical prowess," writes The Spectator. "Girls will be back in the position they were in the 1960s when Title IX became necessary: competing behind boys who will receive the financial and opportunity resources while girls watch from the sidelines."
