"Meet the Press" moderator Chuck Todd will host a 5 p.m. daily show on MSNBC as the network continues its move toward more news and less liberal opinion during the early hours,
CNN reports.
MSNBC president Phil Griffin announced on Thursday that Todd's new program will begin on September 28.
Kate Snow will take over the 3-5 p.m. slot before Todd,
Mediaite reported. Snow will also take over as anchor of the Sunday edition of "NBC Nightly News."
MSNBC has
canceled several daytime opinion shows over the past few months, and moved Rev. Al Sharpton's daily show to Sunday mornings.
Former "Nightly News" anchor
Brian Williams was moved to MSNBC for breaking news coverage when his six-month suspension for fabricated stories about his reporting ends. He will return to MSNBC on September 22 when Pope Francis begins his trip to the United States.
