President Donald Trump is thinking about having a Fourth of July military parade in the nation's capital next summer.
Trump made an appearance with French President Emmanuel Macron at the United Nations on Monday and said he was impressed with a similar show of military pride during his visit to France on Bastille Day over the summer.
"Because of what I witnessed, we may do something like that on July 4th in Washington down Pennsylvania Avenue," Trump said. "It was really a beautiful thing to see."
Trump said he began speaking with aides about the idea after his Parisian trip in mid-July.
"We're thinking about Fourth of July, Pennsylvania Avenue, having a really great parade to show our military strength," Trump said.
Trump and Macron have seemingly struck up a friendship this year. During the G-20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany in early July, Macron left his position during a group photo of all the leaders in attendance to stand next to Trump in the front row.
