Divine intervention — a concept as spiritual as it is mysterious — will be the subject of a brand-new TV series called "Answered Prayers," hosted by beloved actress and producer, Roma Downey.
The six-part program, debuting July 26 on TLC, follows the remarkable stories of people in life-threatening situations who have experienced moments so inexplicable, so incredible, they can only be described as divine intervention.

Executive produced by Downey and her husband, Mark Burnett ("Shark Tank" "Survivor"), "Answered Prayers" employs heart-tugging interviews, thrilling re-creations and dramatic real footage, to paint a vivid portrait of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, all of whom lived to tell the tale.
Their unwavering faith and trust in the power of prayer transforms potentially heartbreaking situations into stories of true inspiration.
The premiere episode — Sunday, July 26, at 10 p.m. EST — introduces viewers to an Indiana mother who hears the voice of God telling her to prepare for a possibly devastating storm and protect her three children.
She acts on her instinct and huddles in a closet with her husband and kids just moments before a tornado rips through their home, hurling it hundreds of feet through the air. Though she loses hold of her family, she never gives up faith that God will keep them safe, even if she can’t.
In the same episode, a Florida boy suffers a horrific lawnmower accident. Distraught, his parents make the agonizing decision to have his leg amputated, but they pray for a sign they are doing the right thing. On the day of the operation, what their son sees on the ride to the hospital could be the answer to their prayers and may change his life for good.
Other episodes tell of the miracle survivals of a young boy buried for hours under 11 feet of sand, a pastor who was stabbed 37 times, and a family whose car plunged upside down into an icy river bank.
"Answered Prayers" is the latest production for Downey, who has had huge successes with "The Bible" miniseries, "Son of God," "AD," and "Touched by an Angel." It was produced for TLC by Downey’s LightWorkers Media, a division of United Artists Media Group.
