Comedian Roseanne Barr told a group of 200 Jewish supporters Saturday night that "I might be moving to Israel."

The website Arutz Sheva quotes from a report by the subscription-only newspaper Haaretz that the former network television star has become a staunch supporter of Israel and made the comments at an Oakland synagogue during an event sponsored by the pro-Israeli group StandWithUs.

Arutz Sheva notes that Barr "grew up in a Modern Orthodox home in Salt Lake City, Utah, and said a key moment in the formation of her Jewish identity was watching the trial of Nazi leader Adolf Eichmann on television as a child."

The 63-year-old was the star of the hit ABC sitcom "Roseanne," which ran from 1988 to 1997.

She once referred to Israel Defense Forces troops as "Nazis" but Barr has made a 180-degree turn in recent years.

Commenting on anti-Israel attitudes on college campuses, Barr said, "the thing that needs to happen is that Jewish donors need to stop supporting universities that allow Nazism on their campuses.

"I mean these Jewish donors are just sending their kids to be beat up, and it makes no sense at all."
