White House Briefing Rift With CNN's Acosta Goes Viral

C-SPAN

By    |   Wednesday, 02 August 2017 06:11 PM EDT

Twitter took sides Wednesday in a contentious exchange between CNN's White House correspondent Jim Acosta and adviser Stephen Miller over immigration policy.

The back-and-forth got so much social media attention, C-SPAN tweeted out the full nearly seven-minute flare-up.

Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham tweeted Miller "schooled" Acosta.

Meanwhile, NBC News foreign correspondent Andrea Mitchell came to Acosta's defense, noting his family "lived 1st hand" a green card policy.

And for the most part, the response on Twitter followed partisan lines, with pro-President Donald Trump supporters applauding Miller's argument,

Miller critics pushed back.

Others just thought it was entertaining.
