BERLIN (AP) — A German university says Chinese artist Ai Weiwei wants to take up a visiting lecturer job this fall, which was offered to him more than four years ago.
Ai traveled to Germany last month for a medical checkup and to see his young son. The artist, who often uses his work to draw attention to injustices in China, earlier had his passport confiscated for four years.
Berlin's University of the Arts said he met with its president Tuesday and underlined his wish to take up his guest professorship starting in October.
It isn't yet clear in what format Ai would teach. He has previously raised the possibility of doing so via the Internet.
The university made public its offer to Ai in 2011, when he was detained in China.
