San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick originally kneeled during the national anthem to draw attention to racial injustice, the most significant issue facing American society historically and today. The result of his token gesture was to turn this profound issue into a political football, a cudgel to be used by the left against its enemies.
When President Trump called Kaepernick’s kneeling disrespectful, the left turned Kaepernick’s gesture into just another prop for the Trump haters, one that sits alongside the p**** hat.
Stepping into the leadership void left by feckless NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and many of the team owners, President Trump criticized the insult to the memory of Americans who fought and died in Vietnam, in the war against Hitler and elsewhere. To be fair, most of the players who kneel are unwitting and well-intentioned. They incoherently bend their knees in the face of vicious social pressure.
Once again, the left uses symbols, and they examine rudeness and bad behavior under the microscope, to selectively claim their enemies are racists while they cover up the real cause of racial injustice today and that is the damaging effects of their own ideas and policies over the last half century. Since the 1960’s, the left has attacked the black community and other minority communities on several fronts. The American black community was rapidly advancing in the 1950’s and 1960’s in the face of real systemic racism. At the time, the black family was intact, black education was advancing, black entrepreneurialism was beginning to boom, and the black church was re-defining and transforming Christianity. This dynamic process has continued despite negative leftist ideas and programs but at a terrible cost.
In the face of unprecedented growth, and the rapid move into the middle and upper class by the black community, the left instituted national programs of welfare specifically targeted to minorities. They paid black women to not marry and they paid them more to have babies out of wedlock. They discouraged black business with high taxes, onerous regulations, and corrupt Democratic political machines which ran the big cities. Communist inspired riots in the 1960’s burned black neighborhoods, many of which never recovered. They hurt black education by opposing vouchers and by trapping black children into public schools run by “change-agents” who used the children for their behavioral experiments and illiteracy inducing reading techniques. They compromised the black church with atheistic anti-Christian messages of moral relativism and their abortion clinics.
Their soft on crime approach set the stage for the introduction of crime and drugs which were received by unemployed black men who had grown up in single parent households. Liberal judges let violent criminals out on the streets which increased crime rates. Now, as the old saying goes, the chickens have come home to roost as the only line of defense for the 99 percent of black citizens trying to get on with their lives in the face of violent gangs is the brave police who, while by no means perfect, go forth into the face of danger every day to protect the devastated community. And now they too are under attack by the left.
The only remaining weapon the left has in its arsenal, one that is pointed at all freedom loving Americans, is decades of conditioning by their media mandarins and so-called intellectuals in the field of political correctness. They divert our attention from the real causes of racism, their policies, as they focus on destroying anyone who threatens to wake America up to their true potential. They are particularly threatened by black opponents of their agenda which is why they often come under particularly withering and, dare I suggest, racially motivated attack.
