Talk about change we find hard to believe in: President Barack Obama and former Gov. Sarah Palin sitting together at a malt shop, sipping a shake as their presidential endorsements duke it out in the hallways. That’s exactly the scenario to be portrayed in the December issue of the Archie comic, according to the
Top of the Ticket political blog in the Los Angeles Times. Who could have imagined that Archie and Reggie and Veronica and Betty still would be in high school after all these years?
But it’s a believable scenario that, if they were, the rivalry of Archie and Reggie would be as active now as it was when the comic hit the newsstands in the '40s.
And, of course, these now 80-something “teens” might even be running against each other for class president. Which is where Obama and Palin come in. Top of the Ticket confides that it doesn’t want to spoil any surprises, but Veronica pulls a campaign dirty trick to make it look as if Obama is endorsing Archie. Reggie counters with a grass-roots backer Palin.
Those crazy kids look as if they could graduate from the high-school politics at Riverdale High School to the real-world politics of the 21st century. After all politics is just high school revisited, no?
