The challenge of fighting human trafficking can seem overwhelming to individuals because it appears to be so far removed from the everyday life of most people. But many Christians are working to bring attention to the subject and to reach out to help in any way possible.
Here are five ways that Christians are working to stop human trafficking in their communities:

1. Prayer. As a basic tenet of their religious beliefs, most Christians believe that prayer changes things. Organizations like the Faith Alliance Against Slavery and Trafficking offer suggestions for prayer, including a week of prayer with a different focus for each day. Those include "Pray for those whose voices are not heard" and "Pray for those enslaved around the globe."
2. Conscientious purchasing. Many Christians are educating themselves to assess the products they buy and the services they use. Organizations like SlaveryFootprint.org work to educate consumers on companies that use slaves to make their products. Justin Dillon, director of "Journey to Freedom," started SlaveryFootprint after he worked on the short film that highlighted slavery conditions.
3. Education. Through churches and religious groups, as well as among friends and families, many Christians are making the problem of human trafficking known. A variety of Christian organizations are offering materials that can be used for educational purposes. In addition, the National Human Trafficking Resource Center offers information on creating public service campaigns, etc.

4. Many people are reaching out to volunteer for anti-human trafficking organizations.
The National Human Trafficking Resource Center maintains a list of such groups, and also offers other ideas for people wanting to make a difference.
5. Money. Whether through personal donations or fundraising campaigns, many Christians are reaching out to help anti-trafficking organizations monetarily.
