Hollywood celebrities aren’t typically shy about stating their opinions, and many have stepped forward to define how they believe climate change and global warming will impact the world.

Here are a few stars who are outspoken in their views on climate change:
- Leonardo DiCaprio has been called, by The Daily Mail, the “highest-profile activist” on climate change in the world. He opened a United Nations climate change summit in September, telling world leaders, “This disaster has grown beyond the choices that individuals make.” The actor, worth an estimated $220 million, also marched with 400,000 others in New York City at the People’s Climate March.

- Actor Mark Ruffalo was with DiCaprio marching in New York City, and he was the founder of a petition, now closed, that the Tom Nelson blog quoted: “We, the people, demand the President of the United States and it's legislative body recognize Climate Change as great and Grave a threat to this nation as they would any other aggressive enemy. We demand that the President and Congress act against Climate Change as they have acted against Saddam Husein, Bin Laden, and Hitler for that matter.”
- George Clooney is known for his activism regarding genocide in Darfur and Sudan, but he’s also a global-warming proponent. In fact, the actor was blunt about people who are skeptics, NBC News reported: “Well, it's just a stupid argument. If you have 99 percent of doctors who tell you 'you are sick' and 1 percent that says 'you're fine,' you probably want to hang out with, check it up with the 99. You know what I mean? The idea that we ignore that we are in some way involved in climate change is ridiculous. What's the worst thing that happens? We clean up the earth a little bit?"

- Ian Somerhalder actively speaks out on environmental issues, including climate change. The Ian Somerhalder Foundation’s website talks about climate change, and the actor was part of the television series “Years of Living Dangerously” that focused on the effects of climate change around the world. Also on the TV series were Harrison Ford, Matt Damon, Olivia Munn, Jessica Alba, Don Cheadle, America Ferrera, and Michael C. Hall, according to Entertainment Weekly.
- Director James Cameron is executive producer of “Years of Living Dangerously,” and he is outspoken about what he believes will happen because of climate change. “The devastation to the planet that we'll be experiencing in the next century is really, I think, pretty unfathomable for most people, and I think that what the series can do is to bring it home and make it real, make it real in people terms," Cameron told NBC News.
- Cameron Diaz was an early purchaser of the hybrid Prius cars, according to Ecopedia, and she’s been involved with campaigns to promote awareness of global warming.
Few Hollywood stars are speaking out and calling climate change and global warming a hoax. One man who’s gotten a lot of press in 2014 for his views is John Coleman, a meteorologist and co-founder of the Weather Channel. He has spoken out extensively against climate change, appearing on various media outlets.
The Hollywood Reporter said he called out Al Gore, the former presidential candidate active in promoting environmental issues, recently.
"A climate skeptic can rarely get on TV ever since Al Gore made it a plank of the Democratic party," THR quoted Coleman.
