The debate between climate change activists and global warming deniers doesn’t appear to be ending anytime soon. The advocates of human-caused global warming continually try to debunk the claims by skeptics.
Here are seven key arguments used by critics of the global warming case:

1. There is no basis to the claim that there’s a 97 percent scientific consensus on the issue that humans cause global warming. More than 31,000 scientists signed the
Global Warming Petition Project, stating that global warming is not caused by humans. There are also thousands of other scientists who don’t believe that global warming is even occurring.
2. The temperatures of the planet have not increased since 1997. Phil Jones, former director of the Climate Research Unit of the University of East Anglia says there’s been a cooling period from 1940 to 1975 with a brief rise in temperatures from then until 1997. The temperature has remained relatively flat since that time.
3. Concerns about rising temperatures are overblown. A group of 50 international scientists from the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change found that no evidence exists to cause concerns about dangerous global warming even if claims of a two-degree Celsius rise in temperature, often cited by global warming activists, are true.
According to Breitbart, the report concludes that changes in carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere would cause no harmful effects to the global environment or to people. The Earth has not warmed significantly during a 16-year period despite the increases in carbon dioxide, say global warming deniers.

4. The historical data global warming alarmists use about past emissions are wrong. Patrick Moore, the co-founder of Greenpeace, has concluded that there is no scientific proof that emissions of carbon dioxide, or CO2, by humans cause global warming. The Earth went through higher temperatures and an ice age some 450 million years ago “at a time when CO2 emissions were 10 times higher than they are today,” he told a Senate committee. This contradicts the theory that man-made carbon emissions are the main cause of global warming.
5. Ice in the Arctic has actually increased 50 percent since 2012. There is also evidence that may suggest there was less ice in the Arctic decades ago than there is today. Al Gore even predicted that Arctic ice would disappear by 2013 and James Hansen of NASA predicted the West Side Highway in New York would already be underwater.
6. Measurements in urban areas have distorted global warming figures, global warming deniers point out. The urban heat caused by transportation vehicles and the heat absorption that occurs in the asphalt influences weather stations in these areas. Homes and businesses in highly populated areas also cause high concentrations of carbon dioxide.
7. The climate has always been changing. Richard Lindzen, a professor of atmospheric sciences at Massachusetts Institute of Technology,
pointed out to The Weekly Standard that there have been ice ages and warmer periods for the past 700,000 years. Warmer periods have occurred when the carbon dioxide levels were lower than they are today.
