Model 700 Bolt-Action Rifle
Rifle Shooter Magazine has named the Model 700 one of the best bolt-action rifles of all time. “The Model 700 was the original budget rifle, capable of being mass-produced and affordable yet maintaining an outstanding level of accuracy,” wrote Brad Fitzpatrick. Remington introduced the 700 in 1962.
The popular rifle faced controversy in the last 10 years, with reported issues with the trigger mechanism. Remington settled class-action lawsuits over the gun by offering to have the trigger mechanism replaced.
Model 31 Shotgun – 870 Wingmaster
This shotgun was originally built for the military in World War II and was famous for its smooth pump action. Remington shut down production of the weapon after the war.
The company took the design but used simpler and less expensive production methods to create the similar Model 870 Wingmaster.
According to John Taylor in Outdoor Life, more than 10 million of these weapons have been produced, making it “the most popular sporting arm ever produced,” he wrote.
Model 1911 R1 Handgun
The 1911 was originally designed by the legendary firearm designer John Browning for Colt. Remington received contracts to build the single-action pistol for the U.S. military. Despite the U.S. military officially moving on to different handgun models, many 1911s made by Remington and other licensed manufacturers are still in use within the uniformed services.
Remington also manufactures a civilian variation of the gun at its Ilion, N.Y., plant. The gun is frequently used by target sport shooters.

R-15 Hunting Rifle
This AR-15 style rifle is marketed to hunters, with a hunting camouflage paint scheme and a smaller hunting-legal magazine that is allowed in many states. Designing and marketing a variant of the tactical assault rifle for hunters opened up the market for these weapons.
“With its new R-15, Remington is signaling that it recognizes what many shooters and sportsmen have long known – that the ever popular AR rifle has just as much utility in the hunting realm as it does in the tactical one,”
said an article in NRA's publication, American Rifleman.
