In Idaho, the goal is to allow citizens to own guns with little government intervention. It's a pro-gun state, where anyone can own or buy a rifle, handgun, or shotgun without a permit, as long as the individual is at least age 18. Under 18, parental consent must be given for the minor to have a firearm.
Residents in Idaho need only a permit to carry a concealed weapon, and the state recognizes permits from other states. Visitors must carry the permit or license on them.

Gun owners are permitted to openly carry a firearm in their vehicles, but it has to be in plain view, whether loaded or unloaded.
