Mississippi decriminalized marijuana and took a step towards legalizing weed in 2014.
Along with a group of other traditionally conservative states, Mississippi passed a law that allows the limited use of certain types of medical marijuana. This law only protects a small number of individuals.

Proponents of the drug are working to gather more than 100,000 signatures to put further legalization on the ballot so Mississippi voters will decide if they want to legalize, tax, and regulate marijuana for adults in next year's general election.
