Actress Michelle Williams graces the October cover of Vogue magazine in a photograph that channels the iconic blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe, reports I Village

The shoot, photographed by famed photographer Annie Liebovitz, celebrates Williams’ upcoming film ‘My Week With Marilyn’ in which she plays the role of Monroe during her time filming ‘The Prince and the Showgirl.’

Williams had a difficult time gaining weight for the role. “Ultimately, it went straight to my face,” she said. “So at some point it became a question of, Do I want my face to look like Marilyn Monroe’s or my hips?”

Kenneth Branagh, who plays the role of Sir Laurence Olivier in the upcoming film, tells ‘Vogue’ that Williams’ transformation was striking.

“I’d look over and there is Michelle. Half an hour later, Marilyn has arrived but is a bit sleepy . . . Half an hour later, I look around and Marilyn is now very frisky. And finally, just before we’re due to be called, Marilyn is fully there — the dress is on, the hair is in place, there’s a glint in the eye.”
