Rosacea: How Your Diet Plays a Role

A healthy diet is vital for healthy skin. Acne Rosacea and your diet are closely linked. Facial flushing is a characteristic feature of Acne Rosacea, which can be treated with vaso-constrictors like cherries, blackberries, and blueberries. Strictly following a rosacea diet can reduce rosacea flare-ups.

Here are some tips to help you keep your skin clear if you have rosacea:
  • Olive oil is a good Acne Rosacea diet supplement
  • Alkaline water with pH 7.2 to 7.8 is a good acid neutralizer and can be included in a diet for Rosacea. Drinking at least 10 to 12 glasses of iced alkaline water per day is useful as a part of the natural rosacea diet
  • Omega 3 fish and fish oil supplements should be added to the Rosacea diet
  • Cooked foods should be consumed more than raw ones because they are easier to digest
  • Seaweed is good to include in a natural rosacea diet
  •  A natural rosacea diet may include whole grains, seeds, nuts, fresh fruits, and vegetables
  • Aloe Vera should be added to the Acne Rosacea diet due to its anti-inflammatory properties
  • Licorice is another common kitchen herb, which can be used in a rosacea diet
  •  Chicken and fish should replace red meat in a diet for rosacea
Foods to avoid:
  • An important caution: Alcohol should not be consumed if you have Rosacea
  •  Though the Acne Rosacea diet should ideally be free from tea, coffee, and other caffeinated drinks, these beverages can be consumed iced to prevent vasodilation
  •  A diet for rosacea must be free of foods high in sugar like oranges, pineapple, mango, and papaya
  •  Similarly, high calorie carbohydrates like pasta, bread, and fats must be avoided when following an Acne Rosacea diet.
  •  Vinegar based products, soy sauce, tomatoes, and onions must not be consumed when following a rosacea diet
  • Chocolate, lobster, prawns, artificial sweeteners, preservatives, and food colors can trigger rosacea. A rosacea natural diet should therefore be free from these
  • Citrus fruits and juices, bananas, red plum, figs, cheese, and raisins should be eliminated from the diet.
  • Hot, spicy, fried foods can worsen symptoms
