Federal election officials are red-flagging the finance report from the Democratic presidential campaign of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

In a letter from the Federal Election Commission, the Sanders camp is advised contributions, receipts, expenses and disbursements listed on its Feb. 20 report "appear to be incorrect."

The letter, posted by the Burlington Free Press, also warns some contributions may have gone over the allowed limit per election cycle — that's $2,700 for individuals — along with donations that come from outside the United States and from unregistered political committees.

"Failure to adequately respond by the response date noted above could result in an audit or enforcement action," the letter states.

The campaign has until March 31 to answer the FEC's request for more information.
