Fox News ratings leaders Bill O'Reilly and Megyn Kelly are at "war" – in part over the "The Kelly File" host's Donald "Trump-fueled stardom," according to New York magazine media writer Gabriel Sherman.

In his Intelligencer column posted late Tuesday, Sherman writes the GOP presidential front-runner has loosened "the grip that [Fox News owner] Rupert Murdoch, [network boss] Roger Ailes, and Co. have held on the GOP for nearly a generation."

And because of the "confusion," the channel's hosts and producers "are split over how to cover Trump," he reports, citing three unnamed sources.

But Ailes' bigger problem currently is "figuring out how to broker peace between Fox's biggest stars," Sherman writes.

"The prime-time hosts are at war, in part over Kelly's Trump-fueled stardom," he writes.

According to Sherman, O'Reilly is supposedly "outraged" Kelly made a post-Super Bowl appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," where she took a swipe at O'Reilly's show, claiming: "If you're not live at night — because the show before me and the show after me are taped — you lose a lot."

"O'Reilly has also told people he's furious that Kelly hasn't shown him respect for helping make her Fox's brightest light," Sherman writes, adding that one unnamed "insider" reports:

"They're at each other's throats big time… Roger doesn't know what the hell to do."
