A civil war is about to break out within the Republican Party no matter who wins in Tuesday's general election, veteran conservative pundit Charles Krauthammer says.
"The civil war will begin on Wednesday," Krauthammer told Fox News' Bill Hemmer, Mediaite reports.
He predicted that if Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump captures the White House, "he will irreversibly reshape the party. That means transforming it from a Reagan-esque political forum into something less conservative and more populist."
And if he loses, Krauthammer, added, Trump will continue to push his in-your-face, anti-establishment devil-may-care agenda that captured much of the nation's attention and alienated the old-guard GOP.
Krauthammer also said Trump may "try to engineer deposing" House Speaker Paul Ryan if he wants.
