Viewers paying close attention might have gotten a heads up that Texas Sen. Ted Cruz would win the Wisconsin GOP primary Tuesday, when analyst Charles Krauthammer spilled the beans on the exit poll.
"[A]ccording to the exit polls, [Donald] Trump, who will come in second if the exit polls are right, is going to have somewhere in the high 30s," Krauthammer said during his discussion of the election on Fox News Channel's
"The Kelly File."
That was at 9:22 ET, about six minutes before Fox called the race for Cruz — right after Krauthammer's appearance ended.
Krauthammer agreed with a preview of Cruz's victory speech, in which he was set to say the vote as a "turning point" as he seeks to take the front-runner spot from Trump.
"It will help to narrow the fact that he trails Trump. It will probably end up being less than 200 delegates as a result," Krauthammer said. "And if they go into Cleveland bunched up, that's a huge advantage for Cruz relative to where he is now."
