New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who has been helping GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump with debate prep, will not be at Sunday's second debate with Democrat Hillary Clinton, CNN reports.
"Situation Room" host Wolf Blitzer on Sunday noted that Christie also dropped out of Sunday news show appearances then it was discovered he will not be at the debate at Washington University in St. Louis.
"The official line is he has important business to tend to New Jersey," reporter Dana Bash replied. "But he always has important business to tend to in New Jersey, and yet he has found an incredible amount of time in his schedule to help his good friend Donald Trump through thick and thin."
The fact that Christie will not be present at the debate "speaks volumes" Bash said.
Christie, a former rival for the GOP nomination, has "put everything on the line" for Trump, she said, and the release on Friday of tapes with Trump speaking lewdly about women "cannot be something that sits well with him."
