"Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace was the only Sunday morning host who didn't interview GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump this week. The reason, he said, is he doesn't do phone interviews with presidential candidates.

In an appearance Thursday on Fox News Radio's "Kilmeade & Friends," Wallace said he prefers to have the interviewee on camera so he or she can't be reading from talking points placed in front of them.

"We are not a call-in radio show," Wallace said. "We are a Sunday talk show, and he is a presidential candidate. You do an interview on camera."

Trump did appear on the other four Sunday shows on NBC, ABC, CBS and CNN by telephone.

Wallace said his show has tried to get Trump to do a sit-down interview, but has had no success. NBC's Chuck Todd announced earlier this week that he will be taping a sit-down interview with Trump on Saturday that will be broadcast Sunday on "Meet the Press."

"As far as Trump doing Chuck Todd and not me," Wallace said. "We invited him, they said he wasn’t available. I guess he was available to someone else. We’ll survive."

Wallace also addressed Trump's response to tough questions asked by himself and co-moderators Megyn Kelly and Bret Baier at last week's GOP presidential debate.

"I don't think he particularly likes tough questions," Wallace said "They were tough questions, and I don’t apologize for anything I asked."

Besides Trump's controversial slam of Kelly, whom he said had "blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever," the billionaire businessman also said Wallace had blood coming from his eyes and adding that he wasn't as talented as his father, legendary CBS newsman Mike Wallace.
