Donald Trump's early morning Twitter storm targeting former Miss Universe Alicia Machado and her connections with Hillary Clinton was just more evidence of his "contempt" for women, the Democratic nominee said.
Clinton on Friday unleashed a tweet storm of her own in reaction to Trump's complaints, including his call for people to check out her "sex tape," reports The Hill.
In the past, after winning the Miss Universe pageant at 18, Machado has been photographed topless for Playboy, but the sex tape appears to be a scene captured during a Spanish "Big Brother"-type reality show. In the clip, Machado is shown in bed with a male contestant, but they remain covered and she was not shown nude in the segment.
However, Trump accused Machado of duping Clinton into defending her "terrible" past.
In Clinton's cross attacks, she tweeted:
Machado herself also responded to Trump's attacks, posting on Instagram that "The Republican candidate and his campaign team are again generating attacks, insults and trying to revive defamations and false accusations about my life, all with the purpose of intimidating me, humiliating me and unbalancing me once more. The attacks are slander and cheap lies generated with bad intentions and no basis that have been spread by tabloids.”
According to fact checkers with Snopes.com, the claim that Machado had appeared in a sex tape was "mostly false," and noted that searches for her name turn up videos but they are of women who are not her.
Machado, who was crowned Miss Universe in 1996, came into the news again during Monday night's debate. Toward the end of the event, Clinton commented that after the Venezuelan beauty queen won the then-Trump-owned contest, she put on weight and Trump began to insult her by calling her "Miss Piggy" for the weight gain and "Miss Housekeeping" because she was a Latina.
Clinton on Friday also attacked Trump through Twitter for his insults against Rosie O'Donnell and Kim Kardashian:
The feeds also had several other comments filed under her name and against Trump.
