Democrats used Hillary Clinton's appearance Thursday before the special House Benghazi committee to raise money, while Republicans focused on debunking the former secretary of state's testimony.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) took to Twitter to seek contributions, according to a post from CNN's Dan Merica, using the headline, "Hillary Clinton DISRESPECTED."

"Even though Republicans admitted that the Benghazi committee was orchestrated to take down Hillary Clinton, they refused to shut it down," the email began — a reference to comments by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, New York Rep. Richard Hanna and fired Benghazi investigator Bradley Podliska.

"This second, they're badgering her, disrespecting her, and trying to tear her apart," the email said. "Now it's time to tear apart the Republicans for this taxpayer-funded political charade."

The email asked recipients to help raise $100,000 during the "sham hearing" to be used "to go after the Republicans."

"Let's make them wish they'd shut down this hearing when they had the chance," the email concluded.

The Republican National Committee, meanwhile, sent emails that sought to shoot holes in Clinton's testimony. One accused her of "falsely" blaming budget shortfalls for security lapses in Benghazi.

Super PACs were just as busy, too.

Correct the Record, the pro-Clinton group, used an 1,100-word email to undercut Rep. Martha Roby's questioning about security plans for diplomatic operations in Benghazi.

The organization fired off the email before the three-term Alabama Republican's exchange with Clinton.

But the real battle over Clinton's testimony was waged on Twitter, with special-interest groups — even some Republican presidential candidates — tweeting their comments.

The DCCC re-tweeted a post from People for a Safer Society, a grassroots organization, linking to a petition to "condemn Republicans for the witch hunt against Hillary Clinton."

Correct the Record broadly slammed Benghazi Republicans:

Tea party groups, however, showered praise on the Republicans.
