Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump appears to be unharmed by his suggestion this week that all Muslims should be banned from entry to the United States while the country figures out how to deal with terrorism.

In fact, a new Fox News poll shows Trump's support shot up in the early primary state of South Carolina right after he made the comment.

Trump still holds a commanding lead in the poll, which was taken Saturday through Tuesday. His support on the first two nights was 30 percent, compared to 38 percent the last two nights, after he had made the call to ban Muslims.

The change in Trump's numbers is within the margin of error.

Trump's support for the four-day period averaged to 35 percent. Here are the complete results:

• Donald Trump: 35 percent
• Ben Carson: 15 percent
• Ted Cruz: 14 percent
• Marco Rubio: 14 percent
• Jeb Bush: 5 percent
• Chris Christie: 2 percent
• Lindsey Graham: 2 percent
• Rand Paul: 2 percent
• Carly Fiorina: 1 percent
• Mike Huckabee: 1 percent
• John Kasich: 1 percent
• Rick Santorum: 1 percent
• Jim Gilmore: Less than 1 percent
• George Pataki: Less than 1 percent

On the Democratic side, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton holds her commanding lead in the Palmetto State:

• Hillary Clinton: 65 percent
• Bernie Sanders: 21 percent
• Martin O'Malley: 3 percent

The poll was taken Dec. 5 to 8, 2015. The Democratic results have a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points, and the Republican results have a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.
