Real estate billionaire and high-flying GOP presidential contender Donald Trump has reportedly sold his Park Avenue penthouse for $21 million.

According to listing agent Michelle Griffith, Trump was the first and only owner of the 24th floor unit at the Trump Park Avenue building, but never lived there, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Trump's daughter, Ivanka, who works as executive vice president of development and acquisitions at the Trump Organization and lives in the building, told the Journal the sale wasn't related to political fundraising.

"My father is in the business of real estate," she told the Journal.

The 6,200-square-foot apartment boasts 10-foot ceilings, five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and a powder room and was listed for $35 million in 2013, the Journal reports, adding public records show it was last offered at $24.995 million.

The buyers are identified only as a "domestic couple with other homes" in the United States, according to the Journal.

Before its sale, there was a bid to rent the apartment for more than $80,000 a month, the newspaper reports.

"In his mind, it was a strong market and it was a good time to get a deal done," Griffith told the Journal.

Trump ranks first in the GOP field in the Real Clear Politics polling average 4 1/2 percentage points ahead of the nearest contender Jeb Bush.
