Donald Trump said Thursday that while he uses the controversial H1B visa program for foreign workers — "as a businessman" — he should not be allowed to use it and that it should be abolished.

"It's something that I frankly use and shouldn't be allowed to use," the developer said during the Republican presidential debate at the University of Miami in Florida. "We shouldn't have it.

"Very, very bad for workers.

"I'm a businessman, and I have to do what I have to do — when it's sitting there waiting for you," Trump added. "But it's very bad. It's very bad for business. It's bad for our workers and unfair for our workers."

He said that those managing the H1B program are "people that don't know what they are doing in terms of our leadership."

The program should be suspended for "a minimum of one year, maybe two years" Trump said.
