Clinton Takes Jab at Trump During Georgetown Speech

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton used her platform during a speech on women’s rights at Georgetown University Friday to jab President Donald Trump and the now infamous “alternative facts” comment by his senior advisor Kellyanne Conway, Mediaite reported.

Clinton wove the statement into a speech she gave as part of the Hillary Rodham Clinton Awards, presented by Georgetown’s Institute for Women, Peace, and Security.

“So the work that is done here at this institute, here at Georgetown, making the evidence-based case for the role of women and peace in security is incredibly important. It’s always mattered, but today, it’s even more critical.

“As this institute has grown, so too has the body of evidence showing that when women participate in peacemaking and peacekeeping, we are all safer and more secure. Studies show… here I go again, talking about research, evidence and facts… But in fact, when women are included in peace negotiations, agreements are less likely to fail and more likely to last,” Clinton said.

The media has kept a focus on Conway’s “alternative facts” comment she gave in January on NBC’s “Meet the Press” when discussing the crowd size at the president’s inauguration.

Clinton’s speech, however, was largely focused on women’s rights, where she heralded the role of women in foreign diplomacy and the military, while subtly swiping the president again saying, “Clearly, women are not inherently more peaceful than men. That is a stereotype. That belongs in the alternative reality.”
