Rep. Jason Chaffetz is planning to devote years to investigating Hillary Clinton's record — particularly if the Democrat wins the White House next month and if Republicans maintain their majority in the House.

"It's a target-rich environment," the Utah Republican, 49, who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, told The Washington Post. "Even before we get to Day One, we've got two years' worth of material already lined up.

"She has four years of history at the State Department — and it ain't good."

Other Republicans echoed Chaffetz's sentiments.

"The rigorous oversight conducted by House Republicans has already brought to light troubling developments in the Clinton email scandal," House Speaker Paul Ryan's office told the Post in a statement. "The speaker supports [Oversight's] investigative efforts following where the evidence leads, especially where it shows the need for changes in the law."

With scandals ranging from her emails to Benghazi to the Clinton Foundation, Republicans feel empowered to keep the former secretary of state under the microscope — particularly since she could assume the presidency with low approval ratings, the Post reports.

"She's not getting a clean slate," said Chaffetz, who was first elected in 2014 and is completing his inaugural term as oversight chairman. "It's not like the State Department was bending over backwards to help us understand what was going on.

"We've got document destruction. We've got their own rogue system. We've got classified information out the door. We've got their foundation doing who knows what.

"I mean, it took them four years just to release her schedule."

Clinton allies balked at the specter of such aggressiveness by Republicans, with campaign spokesman Brian Fallon telling the Post that Chaffetz threatened to "ignore the public's clear desire for the two parties to work together."

Fallon and other allies also accused the chairman of wasting taxpayer money "chasing old stories," according to the report.
