Jeb Bush slammed Donald Trump during the Republican debate on Saturday for n going bankrupt several times, saying that the front-runner "brags that he's been bankrupt four times and it was great because he could use the legal system."
Trump discussed how he used the bankruptcy laws to create deals that helped his business empire.
"I use the laws to my benefit because I run a company," Trump said. "I never went bankrupt, never."
But the approach reflected poor fiscal management, Bush responded, as he pushed against Trump's accusations that he bankrupted Florida during eight years as governor.
"We didn't go bankrupt and call it success when people are laid off, when vendors don't get paid," Bush said. "That's not success.
"What we did was create an environment where people had a chance to have income."
