Vice President Joe Biden said former President Bill Clinton's scandals "shouldn't matter" in the current presidential campaign.
"Look, I can't make any excuses for Bill Clinton's conduct, and I wouldn't attempt to make any excuses for the conduct. But he paid a price for it. He paid a price. He was impeached. And he was — he expressed his deep sorrow and acknowledged what he did," Biden said during an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Clinton was impeached by the House of Representatives in 1999 for perjury and obstruction of justice, but was acquitted in the Senate, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Republican nominee Donald Trump has not expressed remorse for his actions.
"This guy, as I said, has acknowledged that he has been a sexual predator. He's acknowledged that he has abused his power," Biden said.
A number of women have come forward to accuse Trump of sexual assault or harassment, but Trump has denied the allegations and said the "vicious claims" were fabricated. Last week, Trump dismissed lewd comments he made in 2005 as "locker-room banter."
In other interviews, Biden has condemned Trump over the allegations, including saying that he committed the "cardinal sin" of taking advantage of a woman.
The Clinton family has experienced a number of controversies, including the former president's sex scandal with an intern, The Atlantic notes.
