MSNBC's "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough coined a new hashtag for Donald Trump Monday to poke at his immigration changes, repeatedly labeling the GOP nominee as "Amnesty Don."

"But now Amnesty Don is softening," Scarborough said Monday. "Now Amnesty Don this weekend, even Amnesty Don's own people, surrogates, don't know what Amnesty Don's going to do on this . . . Isn't it surprising that some people are calling him Amnesty Don?"

As the early morning show continued, the hashtag "Amnesty Don" kept growing on Twitter, and for a short time, was the top trending hashtag in the United States, and remained near the top as the show came to an end.

Scarborough and the "Morning Joe" program both pushed for the hashtag to become viral, with Scarborough tweeting:

And the show tweeting:

Trump has come under criticism last week suggesting that he could "work with" people living illegally in the United States, while early pushing for a "deportation force" to deport the 11 million or more undocumented immigrants living in the United States.

The "Amnesty Don" hashtag was the latest salvo from the "Morning Joe" program in a growing feud between Trump and Scarborough and the show's co-host Mika Brzezinski.

Last week, Trump deemed her "crazy" on Twitter, and earlier in the month called her Scarborough's "longtime girlfriend" in reference to tabloid reports about the couple after her divorce became final.

On Sunday, Trump's running mate Mike Pence told CNN the GOP nominee's positions on immigration have not softened or changed, and still include building a wall and using the nation's existing laws, as well as ending the nation's sanctuary cities. Also, Pence said Trump's plans do not allow for amnesty.

Trump on Sunday tweeted that will deliver a major speech on his immigration plans in Arizona on Wednesday.
