John Kasich said Thursday that former presidential rival Chris Christie "would be considered" for a Cabinet position should he win the White House in November but that "I'm not measuring the drapes yet."
"I've got a long way to go," the Ohio governor told a CNN Republican town hall in South Carolina. "We're really, really early."
Kasich said that he and the New Jersey governor, who dropped out of the race after a poor showing in the New Hampshire primary earlier this month, have been friends "for a while."
"Chris and I are kind of buddies," he said. "I've always liked Chris. We kid and joke — and he's a terrific guy.
"He's somebody that was a candidate who would be considered," Kasich said. "These are all fine people."
