Donald Trump has started vetting potential cabinet members, campaign manager Kellyanne Conway told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on "The Situation Room" on Tuesday night.
Conway said New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is still involved with the transition team and Trump is "going to win."
"We have to get ready to form a government, and along those lines we find many talented people who'd like to serve in the Donald Trump-Mike Pence administration, and we're really happy about that," Conway said. "We're not doing it because we're presumptuous, I think, the way my friends across the aisle are doing it, but we're doing it because it's a very serious prospect to form a government in a very small time."
Trump is still behind in all of the major polls, according to Real Clear Politics, but Conway said Tuesday the Republican nominee's camp is conducting its own internal polls and those show Trump closer to Hillary Clinton in North Carolina and Florida.
"I think Donald Trump is going to win the election," Conway said. "He's also ahead in places like Ohio and Iowa internally. These are states that Mitt Romney and John McCain both lost to President (Barack) Obama. Hillary Clinton is nowhere near President Obama's 52%, 53%, 55% margins in these states."
