Footage from police body cameras released Tuesday night illustrates the chaos and confusion of the Las Vegas shooting that killed 59 people and injured over 500, ABC News reports.

Gunfire, sirens and screams can be heard in the background as officers try to direct civilians, who can't tell where the shots are coming from.

The shooter, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, attacked the crowd of a country music festival from a hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Officers found that he had cameras set up both inside and outside of the room.

"I anticipate he was looking for anybody coming to take him into custody," Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said, adding that there was one camera located in the hallway on a service cart.

The "FBI took all digital and electronic evidence into custody," Lombardo said.

ABC News also released video footage from inside Paddock's hotel room, which shows an assembled rifle on the floor.

Pictures obtained by ABC News show several rifles in the room, and partly visible is a body on the floor believed to be Paddock. When he checked in, police believe he brought at least 23 guns.

Lombardo said at the press conference Tuesday that he couldn't discern a motive behind the shooting, saying he "can't get into the mind of a psychopath."

"This individual was premeditated," he said Wednesday, according to ABC News. "I'm sure he evaluated everything he did in his actions, which is troublesome."

"The world has changed. And, you know, who would have ever imagine this situation," he added. "I couldn't imagine it. And for this individual to take it upon himself to create this chaos and harm is unspeakable."
