Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda on Saturday said Donald Trump was going "straight to hell" after the president attacked San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz on Twitter.
The Pulitzer-Prize winning playwright has been active in trying to help Puerto Rico, which is still reeling after Hurricane Maria hit the island almost two weeks ago. Many residents are without water, food and electricity.
Miranda tweeted his comments after Trump took to Twitter to criticize Cruz. The president said Cruz had "poor leadership" abilities and the city "wanted everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort."
Cruz, a member of the island's Popular Democratic Party, slammed the Trump administration's efforts last Friday.
"I will do what I never thought I was going to do. I am begging, begging anyone who can hear us to save us from dying. If anybody out there is listening to us, we are dying, and you are killing us with the inefficiency," she said.
Miranda, who has pushed the administration for quicker aid to Puerto Rico, said Trump was golfing while Cruz was working hard.
